Chip Hanauer learned innumerable lessons in a journey that
brought both triumph and despair to his adventurous life.
Wanting to be
a race driver was the first conscious thought he remembers.
He began racing at the age of 10, and went on to become
the most successful race driver in the history of powerboat
racing. Chip, a cum laude graduate of Washington State
University, began his career teaching children with behavioral
disorders. Before long, however, he returned to racing
as a full-time professional driver. |
 |
| His 35-year career saw accomplishments most likely never
to be duplicated as well as grave adversities. Chip found himself in
life-threatening situations nearly constantly as he raced boats at over
200 miles per hour. Having suffered numerous serious physical injuries, he
lived in constant physical pain and worked in an atmosphere of
relentless psychological pressure to succeed. Just as he finally found
relief from the pain of his racing injuries, Chip began suffering from
a neurological disorder which took away his ability
to speak for three years, and cast him into an intense depression. |

| Chip speaks about the skills he has acquired that
have allowed him not only to succeed, but also enjoy a happy,
balanced and satisfying life. He focuses on the importance and
satisfaction of teamwork. He expands on easily acquired skills for
overcoming hardship and nurturing personal growth. Chip shares what
life has taught him about developing a personal attitude that fosters
success and satisfaction, both as an individual, and as a member of
a team. Finally, Chip shares how he found joy, comfort, humor and
lasting peace-of-mind in the wake of a turbulent, dangerous life. |
